35th Annual Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks

In celebration of America's 235th Independence Day and the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, more than 40,000 pyrotechnic shells were fired over the Hudson River in New York City for the third year in the row during Monday's 35th Annual Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.

This year's event, titled "Gift of Freedom", was hosted by American singer-songwriter and actor Nick Lachey.


Aside from standard celebratory songs, hits from Taio Cruz, Everclear, Jennifer Hudson, Katy Perry, LeAnn Rimes and James Taylor were also featured in this year's score, along with Broadway stars Anika Noni Rose and Karen Olivo.
