Japan took home its first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup title after defeating USA 3-1 in a penalty kick shootout following a 2-2 draw on Sunday's championship match at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. Japan is the first Asian nation to win the Women's World Cup.
