17-year old Scotty McCreery from Garner, North Carolina was named Season 10 winner of American Idol on Wednesday night. Georgia teen Lauren Alaina was the runner-up. 

McCreery is the second youngest AI winner, following Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks who was also 17 when she won in 2007.
